The “Cannabis State Legalization Task Force.” Sounds pretty heavy-duty, doesn’t it? It seems San Francisco is going to need some heavy-duty changes in the not-so-distant future. Since California is anticipating recreational cannabis to be legalized next year, San Francisco has assembled a group to propose regulations for the booming industry. Currently, San Francisco has confined medical marijuana sales to a space they have dubbed the “Green Zone.” This small space (just 5 percent of the city’s territory) is currently home to 28 medical marijuana dispensaries. However, with the upcoming potential legalization, San Francisco is going to have to calculate how many stores they will need in order to handle the inevitable growth of cannabis consumption that comes with legalization.
