Interesting Marijuana Facts You Should Know

Interesting Marijuana Facts You Should Know

Marijuana is definitely going mainstream, despite the fact that it's still "illegal", the regulatory enforcement forces are getting relaxed by minute everyday. I was crossing the Canadians borders back to the States the other day, and officer chuckled when he knew I have an Online Smoke Shop business and I called it 421Store (as soon as I don't have the herb itself on me), At some point during the interaction, I felt he almost gonna ask me for a joint.

Anyways, back to what we were talking about. Now, you can use marijuana recreationally in eight states. Alaska, California, Colorado, Oregon, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Washington — and the District of Columbia.

Other than recreationally use, there are 21 other states allow the possession and use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.

How to Manipulate Your Tolerance? Is There a One Easy Step?

How to Manipulate Your Tolerance? Is There a One Easy Step?

June 23, 2017 3 Comments

Tolerance. When you start smoking marijuana and doze off or get paranoid after a couple of hits, your friends recommend you to "build up some tolerance." And you do. In several months (or years, if you do not dive into regular smoking right away) you feel it. You have to smoke more to get high. And you hardly ever get as high as you used to get. Damn you, tolerance.

It is still unclear how cannabis tolerance works in terms of neurobiology. A recently published study suggests that the symptoms we experience may be determined by change in our brain’s ability to release dopamine. The research only describes the reaction of heavy users, people who were treated as ‘dependent on cannabis’ after using marijuana daily for many years. As you probably know, tolerance can be a problem even for someone who recently started smoking regularly, and there is next to no research on this matter.

Cannabis or Opioids? The Choice is Simple.

Cannabis or Opioids? The Choice is Simple.

June 15, 2017

With an upcoming surgery in the back of my mind, I continue to think about what my doctor will prescribe for impending post-surgery pain. Since many legal hurdles for cannabis in DC, and especially in the surrounding areas, still exist, I must prepare myself for taking prescription pain-killers. This is unfortunate, because both anecdotal evidence and statistics prove that pain killers are a much riskier option to cannabis.

According to the CDC, 28,000 people died in 2014 due to opioid overdoes. Yet doctors continue to prescribe these medications for treatment. One could write an entire book about this topic alone, but the intention here is to focus on two key areas where responsible cannabis policy could greatly improve the lives of U.S. citizens who need it most.

A Clean Glass Pipe Using Rubbing Alcohol

A Clean Glass Pipe Using Rubbing Alcohol

June 12, 2017

The easiest way and least efficient way is to scrape out the resin from you pipe and keep it going, but as you may know, sometimes the resin starts to build up to the point that scraping method won’t be efficient, and in that case, you will have to do deeper cleaning.

My favorite way is to soak the pipe in isopropyl alcohol and salt. It’s a few steps process, but it totally worth it.

  1. First, you start off by removing any sticky or messy substance on your pipe, hold your pipe upside down, and gently tap it to get rid of any remaining particles. If you ran into tough spots, I would suggest using thin material, like a needle, to evict the small or large bits of resin you cannot reach in the pipe.

Marijuana and Fighting Breast Cancer - Does Cannabis Cure Cancer?

Marijuana and Fighting Breast Cancer - Does Cannabis Cure Cancer?

June 07, 2017

On average 1 in 8 will develop breast cancer coming in second only to skin cancer as one of the leading causes of death in women. In men the number is around 1 in 1,000. While the numbers have been slowly declining since 2000, 40,000 were still expected to die last year. A massive amount.

Last year, The National Cancer Institute received attention after it updated it’s website to include information on the anti-cancer effects of cannabis. The site contains studies that go over; compounds found in cannabis linked to tumor reduction, death of cancer cells in animal models, and the treatment of chemotherapy symptoms.

Recreational Dispensaries Rules

June 05, 2017

Preamble: When the other 27 states decide to allow their citizens their Constitutional right to organic medicine…here is a guide for you. Seek a doctor to allow such a right, overpay and register with the overbearing states Medical Marijuana Program (MMP).

  1. Bring all such documentation, including your MMP card so the dispensary may verify the doctor’s prescription and input you into their/governments system.
  2. Purchase a reusable child proof bag (as if you were to purchase a gun or another harmless commodity) and bring it with you every time you visit.
  3. We treat people (Budtender) the way we want to be treated…and that is nice.
  4. The budtender is chock full of advice and suggestions, “buy backs” will depend on your attitude.

Marijuana Effects: Cannabis Could Help Broken Bones and More

June 05, 2017

study by researchers from Tel Aviv and Hebrew Universities finds that the non-psychotropic component cannabinoid cannabidiol, or CBD, and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), can help heal bone fractures. When it was administered to rats with mid-femoral fractures, it showed that it “markedly enhanced the healing process of the femora after just eight weeks.” They found that the CBD made improvements alone which gave hope for more research down the line. It also showed that the bones were healing stronger with CBD.

Marijuana vs. Legal Drugs

Marijuana vs. Legal Drugs

May 30, 2017

In 2012, Michele Leonhart, administrator of Drug Enforcement Administration refused to tell Congress about specific drugs like tobacco and alcohol being more physically and mentally harmful than marijuana. Not once did she mention the facts that show marijuana being far less harmful than other banned drugs.

You cannot have a fatal overdose on marijuana and though it does have addictive properties, they are low compared to the drugs such as prescription painkillers. Though the small amount of addictive properties, it can lead to low job and school performance.

“420” and the Grateful Dead

“420” and the Grateful Dead

May 22, 2017

Utter the phrase “420” and anyone who knows anything about marijuana can simply relate to your cannabis reference. The use of the term 420 was first referred back in the early 1970’s. A group of San Rafael California high school students who referred themselves as the “Waldo’s” coined the phrase in lieu of marijuana. Original Waldo Mark Gravitch’s father managed real estate for the Grateful Dead whose property were minutes from the Waldo’s hangout. The Waldo’s were often found outside of the band’s hills home listening to them practice and blazing. Another original member Dave Reddix’s brother managed a cover band of the Grateful Dead and was friends with the bands bassist Phil Lesh.

What makes Ruderalis different from Sativa and Indica?

What makes Ruderalis different from Sativa and Indica?

May 22, 2017

Ruderalis is a subspecies of cannabis that was initially found in the mid-1920s in central Russia.  It was found by D.E. Janichevsky, a Russian botanist.  So what makes Ruderalis different from Sativa and Indica?  Well, it has smaller club shaped leaves, and fewer of them.  It also differs by the way in which it flowers. Ruderalis is ‘autoflowering’ meaning it does not depend on the amount of light it receives each day to begin flowering. Most cannabis will begin to flower when it receives 12 hours of darkness. Ruderalis only needs about one month of growth prior to beginning the flowering process.
