A Guide To Mixing CBD Oil With E-Liquids

August 24, 2020

CBD is becoming a popular remedy for many ailments. It has therapeutic properties that can mitigate epileptic seizures, chronic pain, and many other complicated conditions.

The fact that even its side effects are positive makes CBD even more fascinating. For example, it can make you drowsy. Hence many people use it to treat insomnia.

With its increased popularity and accessibility, there are now many CBD products on the market, one being CBD oil. What’s more convenient is there are several ways to use CBD oil to suit various types of people.

Specific delivery methods, such as tonal applications, are ideal for external conditions such as skin diseases. But can this help if you are taking CBD for insomnia? No.

For other conditions, inhalation is the best method as it is effective and fast-acting. And when it comes to inhalation, there’s no better way than vaping it.

Vaping requires that you mix your product with CBD e-liquid in a vaporizer.  When you heat the vaporizer, the CBD escapes as vapor, which you inhale. Also, you must use innokin coils to make your vape battery last longer.

You can buy your pre-made mixture, or you can opt to make your concoction at home. It's merely a matter of personal choice because your DIY can yield results similar to pre-made mixtures as long as you make it right.

The best thing about making your mixture is that you are sure of the chemicals in your vaporizer. Also, you can regulate the amount of CBD according to your preferences.

You will need certain materials and instructions to make your concoction at home. Here’s a step by step guide.

Requirements

There is the option of buying a pre-made CBD e-liquid or making your own. If you opt to buy pre-made vape juice, you can skip this process.

For this process, you will need:

  • Pan of water
  • Thermometer
  • Beaker
  • Measuring scale
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Propylene glycol
  • CBD oil
  • Flavoring (Optional)

How to Prepare E-Liquid and Mix it with CBD Oil

Boil the Water

Start by heating the water to boiling temperatures. Once the water starts to boil, put it on medium heat that allows it to simmer.

Heat the Oils

Add the vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol to the beaker. If you are new to this, you can start with a ratio of 1:1 for the two liquids. With time, you should be able to work out a ratio that works best for you.

Note, if the concentration of the vegetable glycerin is too high, the CBD will evaporate quickly, and you don’t want that.

Place the beaker with its contents on the boiling water to heat the contents. Stir the liquid as it warms up until it reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This is where your thermometer comes into play.

One hundred forty degrees Fahrenheit is the optimum temperature that  CBD infuses with vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. So, ensure that you do not overheat the liquid.

Add CBD Extract/Oil

If you bought the pre-made e-liquid,  be sure to follow this procedure.

Measure the CBD as instructed by your practitioner or as indicated on the bottle. You can use a dropper as this will allow you to measure small quantities.

A measuring scale is best, but a dropper also works quite well. You just need to estimate the content of CBD in a single drop. The general principle is that 1 ml is relatively equivalent to one drop.

Add the CBD oil you have measured to the e-liquid you have prepared. As you stir, you will notice some white specks or crystals form, but continue stirring until everything dissolves.

Maintain the temperature at about 140 degrees Fahrenheit as you are stirring. This stage can take about an hour (or less), so you need to be patient.

Once the CBD oil dissolves in the e-liquid, remove it from the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Once the mixture has cooled, simply put it in a container, and you’re ready to try your new vape juice! That is how you make a basic CBD e-liquid mixture.

You can use the liquid as it is for your vaporizer. Some people like to add flavors. If you like the artificial taste of your CBD, add flavors of your choice before you top the liquid into your vaporizer.

Whether you opt for pre-made e-liquid or you choose to make your own, there is not much difference. If you have some time and want to make sure that the mixture is good, then the DIY method is the way to go.

Conclusion

You may wonder, why not only add the CBD oil directly to the vape juice. Well, even if you use the CBD oil tincture, it won't work. First, the type of oil that is used in tinctures and other edibles is not suitable for vaping.  Plus, to be ready for use, it must be dissolved in a carrier liquid.

But now that you know how to make your e-liquid, if you run out of supply, you can simply hit the kitchen, and you’ll be set in an hour or less.

The ingredients discussed here are natural and safe. Experts do not advise adding any other contents to your CBD-e-liquid concoction, especially if it is for medicinal use.

In case you need to add anything, make sure it is safe so that you don’t inhale something that could injure your lungs.
