Eating Cannabis?

Eating Cannabis?

While most of us will say that eating cannabis is a faux-pas in our imagination of the cannabis culture, recent findings are indicating that eating cannabis is in fact one of the healthier for your body to ingest cannabis. In her article "Why You Should be Eating Weed", author Anna Wilcox argues,

"If you’re familiar with cannabis, then you know that raw marijuana is non-psychoactive. Because of that fact, you might be wondering why you would ever want to eat unheated weed. Well, this herb may actually turn out to be one of the most nutritionally valuable plants we’ve found yet"

With this speculation at the crux of her article, Wilcox lays out some of the potential nutritional values of consuming raw cannabis: lowering the risk of some chronic diseases, anti-inflammatory properties, strengthening of the nervous system, and so. Wilcox even goes as far as to inform the reader about the science behind the consumption of raw cannabis, "Incorporating more raw weed into your diet allows you to consume over 60 times as many cannabinoids in one sitting than when you puff on a bowl or eat an activated edible."

Anna Wilcox's "Why You Should be Eating Weed" makes for an interesting read that dives deeper into the science of cannabis and makes you wonder, "Maybe I should be eating my weed...".

We want to help consumers become confident in their relationship with cannabis, because cannabis is a perfect analogy for being genuine and accepting yourself as you are. It is 4 am, but I have not slept yet. My stomach is rumbling, but I can not eat without throwing up. Sudden electric sensations in my head, known as brain zaps, are irritating. I also have to deal with mild, but persistent headache: it won’t respond to over-the-counter painkillers. Restlessness. Nausea. Shivers. It has been five days I got off Lexapro, the most popular SSRI antidepressant in the United States.

What does it have to do with legal cannabis, one might ask. Well, Lexapro is widely used to treat anxiety disorders, be it generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. In legal states doctors are allowed to recommend patients with anxiety to try CBD (cannabidiol, one of the dozens of cannabinoids, marijuana’s ) tinctures and high-CBD low-THC strains of marijuana.

Reading marijuana-devoted websites can be both educational and frustrating. The frustrating part begins when people who are in charge of attracting more visitors make up silly meaningless listicles, like this one that claims to provide 17 reasons to date a girl who smokes weed. Of course every girl who smokes weed will click on this. And some of them will also forward the link to their boyfriends, so it works.

I need to say that I highly respect the High Times magazine. It is probably the most important media outlet for drug culture of the 20th century. They still do quality journalism, although they have some competition now. But can’t they do better than trying to imitate Buzzfeed?
