Candyland Cookies Cannabis Strain from Treehawks Review

On this episode of ‘One Strain At A Time,’ Megan and Louis will be discussing the Candyland Cookies strain, specifically from TreeHawks (is that not the most delicious-sounding name on the planet?)

Now, Candyland Cookies is pretty rare, so Megan and Louis are lucky to have some on hand! You’ll love hearing all about this elusive (and energizing) strain from these two--they have a great sense of humor and bring a cozy feel to our show.

What Is ‘One Strain At A Time?’

In case you don’t already know, ‘One Strain At A Time’ is a podcast by budtenders, for budtenders. If you haven’t guessed, our shows are all about weed!

Each episode will focus on our guest’s strain of choice--history, effects, etc. Expect fun anecdotes, personal stories, and an overall fantastic vibe. The goal of our podcast is to educate while having fun. No boring lecture on the history of cannabis laws here!

We want our guests to have just as much fun as our audience, so we encourage them to come high for the recording, or even smoke on-air. We pride ourselves on having a family-type vibe--imagine smoking with all your friends in somebody’s basement. By asking our guests to use their strain of choice either before or during our show, we ensure that family feeling (also, props to you if you smoke with your family. Seriously, if you smoke with your parents, thank them for being so chill).

So, without further ado, let’s meet our host and guest for this week’s episode!

Our Wonderful Host: Louis Berntsen

Born in Anchorage, Alaska and growing up in Billings, Montana, Louis Berntsen moved to Seattle in 2005, where he got his start promoting for RainCity Productions, (formerly known as Obese Productions).

He then kicked off his DJ career as Montana Swerveone, spinning for the likes of artists such MethodMan&Redman, E40, Nipsey Hussle, Future, Young Dolph, Schoolboy Q, P-Lo, Soulja Boy and more. For this article, we’ll be referring to him as Louis, though.

Louis’s determination and hustle to make a name for himself has led to multiple successful residences throughout the city of Seattle, with his most recent weekly party landing him at Q Nightclub’s Haute Sauce every Saturday night.

Throughout his life he’s maintained a passion for the cannabis industry, and found himself beginning to make a career out of it in early 2018.

Working under the Have A Heart brand, Louis found himself budtending for a little over 2 years and was able to establish relationships with some of the industries leading farms. Tranquil Farms is just one of the few he’s had the pleasure of partnering and working alongside.

Our Wonderful Guest Meghan Syvrud

Megan has been working in the Seattle cannabis market for a year and a half; starting first at Have a Heart and now at Greenside Recreational. She’s been a regular cannabis consumer since acquiring her medical card in 2012. Being in the recreational market has allowed for her knowledge to level up to be able to help not only herself, but also her customers.

Megan is still astonished by the fact that she gets to chat about cannabis for a living. In the future, she would love to combine business and pleasure by managing her own shop or finishing her accounting degree to be able to manage the books for a store or grow op. Her favorite strains are Tropicanna Cookies for happiness and creativity and Wedding Cake for relaxation and pain management.

Introduction For This Episode

On this episode of ‘One Strain At A Time,’ Megan and Louis will be discussing the Candyland Cookies strain, specifically from TreeHawks (is that not the most delicious-sounding name on the planet?)

Now, Candyland Cookies is pretty rare, so Megan and Louis are lucky to have some on hand! You’ll love hearing all about this elusive (and energizing) strain from these two--they have a great sense of humor and bring a cozy feel to our show.

Candyland Cookies Strain Review

Candyland Cookies is a Sativa-heavy hybrid, which Megan loves to get from Treehawk Farms. She says that during the COVID-19 pandemic, some regulations were relaxed, which allowed the owner Jason to involve his kids in the growing of cannabis. He does a lot of work to de-stigmatize marijuana, which we can’t be more thankful for, especially as more and more states legalize it on a recreational level.

Megan says she loves the packaging on products from Treehawk Farms--they use different colors for different strains and keep it simple and pleasing for the eye. Candyland Cookies is a wonderful strain for a group smoke session since it’s Sativa-based but not too energizing.

Both Megan and Louis prefer hybrid strains, being coffee-lovers as they are. Louis says that after two cups of coffee and smoking Sativa, he’s “climbing the walls.” Candyland Cookies isn’t too Sativa-heavy, which makes it a great pick for people who don’t want to be lying-in-bed-watching-cartoons stoned but still feeling high.

One of Megan’s favorite things about Candyland Cookies is the terpenes. It has a sweet, earthy scent and the dominant terpene caryophyllene is actually the only terpene that also acts as a cannabinoid. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with anxiety, which makes Candyland Cookies a great strain for just relaxing

Megan and Louis also both love the look of this strain--dense green nuggets with hints of purple and tiny orange fibers. Definitely Instagram-worthy! Megan’s favorite way to smoke Candyland Cookies is either with a bong or rolled up in a joint (although she has a hilarious story on why she never rolls her own) to really get the aroma from the caryophyllene.

This comprehensive strain analysis gives the history of Candyland Cookies, which is something that Megan and Louis dive into as well. In fact, they have a great chat about hybrid strains and weed genetics in general--really interesting stuff. They also talk about some of their favorite things when they’re high, like shows to watch and music to listen to. Make sure to take notes for your next high!

Megan’s biggest piece of advice actually has two parts. One: pay attention to your purchase by considering terpenes, THC content, etc. before buying a product. Two: talk to your budtender to find a strain that you’ll enjoy! Too many people pigeonhole themselves into a strain or two and don’t get to experience the ever-expanding world of cannabis. There’s so much out there to enjoy, and your budtenders can help you expand your horizons (and your high).

Key Takeaways

  • Megan and Louis are awesome (and hilarious).
  • There are a ton of hybrids out there, and the list of strains to choose from is ever-growing.
  • Using a bong or rolled joint will help you get the full effect of the terpenes in your cannabis, especially with a strain as terpene-heavy as Candyland Cookies.
  • Pay attention to every aspect of your purchases--terpenes, THC/CBD concentration, Indica versus Sativa content, etc.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Budtenders love to chat and share their knowledge with you.
  • Candyland Cookies is the perfect strain if you want to feel energized, but not bouncing-off-the-walls crazy, and also has anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties.

Conclusion

In sum, Megan and Louis have a world of knowledge about cannabis, and we’re lucky to receive an hour of it!

Megan hopes to stay in the cannabis industry and has plans to work as a budtender for a long while (and her customers are very lucky people). She’d love to even open her own shop one day, and definitely bring women and POC into the conversation surrounding cannabis. Simply put, “I like budtending.”

I highly recommend checking out our application to appear on the show if you’re an experienced budtender. We’d love to hear from you, and so would our listeners!
